One of the biggest names in American volleyball, Juliann Johnson, was at Cloud County Community College in Concordia August 3rd and 4th to host an Invitational Elite Clinic for incoming high school sophomores, juniors and seniors, as well as a coaching clinic and hitting clinic.
Johnson, a seven-year professional volleyball player and former standout at the University of Texas, is now a Brand Ambassador for BSN Sports, the largest distributor of team sports apparel and equipment in the United States. BSN Sports sponsored the free volleyball coaching clinic.
Now retired from indoor volleyball, Johnson is excited to spread her knowledge of the game in her new position with BSN Sports.
Johnson was a three-time NCAA All-American for the Texas Longhorns from 2007-2010 and the 2010 Big 12 Player of the Year. After graduation, she played professional volleyball overseas in Italy, France, China and Japan.
At the clinic, Johnson told us she enjoys the relationship she's able to form with the players.
Johnson also worked with over 40 coaches in the North Central Kansas area during her coaching clinic. She hopes events like the one at Cloud County Community College help grow and expand the sport of volleyball.
The Cloud County Community College Volleyball team will open their 2018 season August 22nd at home against Butler Community College.
